Attorney Richard Doherty

Richard Doherty is a nationally recognized consumer protection attorney with more than 30 years of experience holding credit reporting agencies, banks, and debt collectors accountable. As co-founder of Fair Credit Attorneys, Richard focuses on inaccurate credit reporting, identity theft, and violations of the FCRA.

Prior to founding the firm, Richard spent over 25 years litigating class actions for consumers across the country, securing tens of millions of dollars in settlements. He has appeared in federal courts nationwide and has litigated complex Multi-District Litigation cases. He has testified before the Illinois House of Representatives, lectured at law schools, and published scholarly work in legal journals.

Richard earned his law degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Law in 1994. He splits his time between the north side of Chicago and Wisconsin. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, woodworking, music, and spending time with his family. His charitable efforts include establishing multiple scholarships and supporting public interest law and policy work in Chicago.
